" Our job is to deliver to you, our client, quality translation at an appropriate price "
Stuart Milne
Director
The Language Room Ltd
" Machine translation is not good enough as you need to understand a text to translate it: to understand its meaning, its context and its cultural background.
A difficulty translating into Japanese is that the Japanese counting system four zeros (1,0000) in contrast to our three zeros (1,000). The counting vocabulary can also change - a flat item is described in a different way to a round item - and there are several different 'counters'. "

Japan , known as Nihon (literally meaning where the sun originates), is an archipelago of nearly 7000 islands in East Asia. Japan has the 10th largest population with over 130 million people. There is a constant demand for Japanese translations and the area in and around Tokyo, the capital, has about 30 million people and is recognised as the largest metropolis in the world.
The Japanese language is a mixture of three script types, kanji, hiragana and katakana. Japanese has no demonstrated links to other languages but has many borrowed and modified words. Originally, many words were historically taken from or modified from Chinese. Latterly the Japanese language has incorporated many words due to important trade relationships. Most recently, these have been from English, but before the 19th century there were influences from both Portuguese and Dutch. A form of the Roman alphabet is commonplace and is called romaji and the Westernised numeric system (1,2,3.) is commonly used, however, the original Japanese numbers are also frequently seen.
The requirement of Japanese translations is great because Japan is a major power economically in the world. Japan is ranked as the second-largest economy after the United States and is the fourth-largest exporter and sixth-largest importer in the world. Japan has the highest life-expectancy in the world and has one of the world's highest living standards.
