Burgundy is a flat, soft-hilled region just to the south of Dijon. It is surprisingly north for wine making and it is this that yields the delicate flavours of burgundy wines.

Reds: The pinot noir grape is world-renowned for being capricious yet it can yield some of the best wines in the world. Gevrey-Cambertin, Fixin, to name a few. Uniquely, burgundy reds are only made from this one variety leading to a great reliance on the 'terroir' or soil to give each wine its characteristic taste.

White: The chardonnay grape, present throughout the world, first started it's wine making life in burgundy. The cote challonnais and maconnais are world renowned for their buttery white wines with both depth and length of taste. This butter flavour comes from the American oak 'barriques' made specifically to age these wines.
